Scope and Contents

The printed items are mostly newspaper cuttings, from the period circa 1780-circa 1830; they have not been indexed. The manuscript items, a list of which has been added at the beginning of the volume, are mostly Scottish, several relating to Bo`ness and Linlithgow, and date from 1562 to 1826. On folio 44 is a note signed `A.E.N.`

Dates: 1562-circa 1830.

Diaries, logs, official correspondence and other papers of Lieutenant-Colonel Charles A C Gordon, MC, RA, mostly relating to the 11th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery.

Scope and Contents

The papers mostly concern Gordon`s command of the 11th Siege Battery of the Royal Garrison Artillery and include Battery log books, copies of Battery correspondence, a history of the Battery, photograph album, training materials, notes and engagement diaries.

Dates: 1896-1977.

Letters and documents received by Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville, and his son Robert, 2nd Viscount, together with some letters written by them.
